Privacy Policy

How DailyCue handles your data

DailyCue is built to keep your planner data local, encrypted, and under your control across iOS and Android. This policy explains what information the app stores, how it uses that information, and what choices you have.

Summary

DailyCue does not use remote accounts or analytics services. Your schedule, routines, settings, backups, and completion history are stored locally on your device and protected by encryption at rest.

This policy may be updated over time. If it changes, the date above will be revised to reflect the most recent version.

1. Introduction

DailyCue ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our mobile applications.

2. Information You Provide

Event information
Title, description, location, start and end times, notes, tags, and completion status for events you create.
Routine data
Custom routines including names, steps, scheduled times, recurrence settings, and associated contacts.
Checklist items
Checklist items attached to events and routines that you create and track.
App settings
Preferences such as notification timing, sound choices, theme and color customization, owner name, and SMS notification settings.
Walkthrough progress
Which tutorial screens you have completed or skipped.
Backup files
Exported or imported backup files contain the data listed above.

3. Device Information Accessed

Contacts
Optional. If you choose to add contacts to a routine for SMS notifications, you select contacts from your device address book. Contact names and phone numbers are stored locally in the encrypted database. No contact data is transmitted.
Notifications
Notification permission is used to send reminder notifications for scheduled events and routines.
Background refresh
The app may reschedule notifications after device restarts or when the system refreshes background state.
Network access
DailyCue does not request network access permissions. No app data is sent to external servers.

4. How We Use Information

  • Provide and improve scheduling and routine management features.
  • Send reminder notifications for events and routines.
  • Persist preferences, settings, and walkthrough progress.
  • Track completion statistics for your routines.
  • Support user-initiated backup export and import.
  • Open your default SMS app with a pre-composed message when you choose to notify contacts of routine completions.

5. Data Storage and Security

Encrypted database
Routines, events, checklist items, notifications, and settings are stored in an AES-256 encrypted SQLite database secured by SQLCipher.
Hardware-backed key storage
Database encryption keys are stored in the device keychain or hardware-backed keystore, depending on platform, so they are not accessible to other apps.
Local preferences storage
Walkthrough progress and certain preference values are stored in the app’s sandboxed preferences storage.

6. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or transfer personal information to third parties. Your data remains on your device and under your control.

7. Third-Party Services

DailyCue does not integrate with third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The app does not use SDKs that collect user data, and it does not transmit data to remote servers.

8. SMS Notifications

When you complete a routine and have SMS notifications enabled, DailyCue opens your device’s default SMS app with a pre-composed message addressed to your selected contacts. DailyCue does not send SMS messages directly. You review and send each message yourself.

9. Backup and Export

DailyCue lets you export your data as a JSON backup file to any location you choose via your device’s file picker. You may also import previously exported backup files. Backup files are plaintext JSON and may contain all of your app data. You are responsible for the storage and transmission of backup files you create.

10. Permissions We Request

Notifications Send reminder notifications for scheduled events and routines
Contacts Optional contact selection for SMS routine notifications

On Android, additional system permissions may be requested to support reliable notification scheduling. On iOS, the system handles notification scheduling automatically once permission is granted.

11. Your Rights

  • You can delete all app data through your device’s application settings.
  • Uninstalling the app removes all stored data.
  • There is no account or login system, so no data can be linked to an external service account.
  • You can export your data at any time using the backup feature in Settings.

12. Children's Privacy

DailyCue does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us so we can delete it.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of DailyCue after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
