Where is my data stored?
Your data is stored locally on your device in the app’s encrypted database. DailyCue does not use
an online account system, and it does not sync your data to a server.
Does DailyCue collect analytics or tracking data?
No. DailyCue is designed to avoid data collection. There are no analytics SDKs, no tracking pixels,
and no account sign-in flow.
How do I back up my data?
Open Settings → Backup and export a JSON backup file. You can save it to Files,
iCloud Drive, email, or another location supported by iOS.
How do I restore from a backup?
Use the restore option in Settings → Backup, then select the JSON backup you previously
exported. If you are restoring to a new device, make sure the file is accessible in Files or another
storage provider first.
Why are my notifications not appearing?
Confirm that notification permission is enabled for DailyCue in iOS Settings. Inside the app, check
Settings → Notifications to make sure reminders are enabled and the timing is set the
way you expect.
Can I change the notification sound?
Yes. Open Settings → Notifications → Sound. Sounds can be previewed before you choose
one, which makes it easier to pick a reminder tone you recognize.
Can I use different notification sounds for appointments and routines?
Yes. Open Settings → Notifications and choose a separate sound for appointments versus
routines. You can preview each sound before selecting it. Routines can also be set to use the same
sound as appointments.
How do I snooze a notification?
When a notification appears, expand it (on iOS, swipe down; on Android, tap and hold) and select the
Snooze action. The notification will dismiss and fire again after a short delay.
How do countdown timers work?
When an event is within 30 minutes of its start time, a live countdown timer appears on the home
screen showing minutes and seconds remaining. You can disable this in
Settings → Notifications by turning off the countdown timer option.
How do SMS notifications work?
When you complete a routine, DailyCue can open your default SMS app with a pre-written message for the
selected contact. You review and send the message yourself. DailyCue never sends SMS messages on its
own.
What contacts does DailyCue use for SMS?
SMS contacts are attached to individual routines. When you complete that routine, the app can prepare a
message for the contacts assigned to it.
How do I create or edit routines?
Open the Routines area from the home screen, then use the library to add, edit, or remove routines.
Each routine can include checklist items and optional SMS contacts.
What are predefined routines and can I get them back?
On a fresh install, DailyCue seeds 12 starter routines covering morning, night, wind-down, self-care,
cleaning, emotional regulation, and more. If you delete them, they cannot be restored from within the
app. To get them back, reinstall the app or restore a backup that still contains them.
Why can't I check off a routine step before it starts?
Routine checklist items become available within a window that opens at the notification lead time
before the scheduled start and remains open through the end of the day. If a step appears unavailable,
it has not yet reached its activation window.
How do I schedule a routine?
From the home screen, choose Schedule Routine. You can pick the routine, set the date
and time, and schedule it with the options configured in the app.
How does the schedule view work?
DailyCue supports day, week, 30-day, and 90-day schedule views. The view mode picker on the home
screen lets you switch between them quickly.
How far ahead will my routines be scheduled?
DailyCue schedules recurring routines across a window you choose in
Settings → Default Durations → Schedule Window — 30, 60, or 90 days. Events beyond
this horizon are generated as the window moves forward, so future dates will always populate as you
approach them.
Why is the week view starting on Monday?
The app uses Monday as the first day of the week by design. That behavior is fixed and does not depend
on your device region settings.
How do I change the theme or colors?
Open Settings → Theme to switch between System, Light, and Dark modes. You can also
customize accent and background colors independently for each theme.
Can I customize individual colors beyond the preset themes?
Yes. After selecting a theme in Settings → Theme, open Custom Colors
to independently change the background, card, and accent colors. Each theme remembers its own
customizations, so you can have different color schemes for different themes.
Why do I see a walkthrough when I first open the app?
The walkthrough is shown to help new users learn the core actions in the app. It is only presented on
a fresh setup until the onboarding steps are completed.
What are the reward animations and messages?
When you complete a task or routine, DailyCue shows a celebration with confetti and a motivational
message. The size of the celebration depends on what you completed — a single task, a medium routine,
a full routine, or completing every event in a week. These are designed to provide gentle, positive
reinforcement.
How do I clear all schedule items?
Use the appropriate destructive action in Settings if you want to clear scheduled entries. This is
intended for full resets, so make sure you have a backup first.
What happens to old events and completed history?
DailyCue automatically removes events that are more than 13 months old. This keeps the app fast and
your data tidy. Completion statistics are based on events still within this window.
Does DailyCue work on iPhone and iPad?
Yes. DailyCue supports both iPhone and iPad, with layouts that adapt to portrait and landscape
orientations where appropriate.
Does DailyCue work on Android?
Yes. DailyCue is available for both iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android phones. Each platform version
is a native app built specifically for that platform. Data is stored locally on each device and does
not sync between them.
Why does the app ask for Contacts permission?
Contacts permission is only needed if you want to pick a real contact for SMS completion messages.
If you do not use the SMS feature, you can skip it.
What should I do before uninstalling the app?
Since all data is stored locally on your device, uninstalling DailyCue will erase everything. If you
want to keep your data, use Settings → Backup to export a backup file before
uninstalling. You can restore it after reinstalling.
How do I report a bug?
Email support with a clear reproduction path. Include your device model, iOS version, the screen you
were on, and what you expected to happen. Screenshots are helpful if the issue is visual.
What should I include when I contact support?
The most useful details are:
- Device model and iOS version
- App version and build number
- Exact steps to reproduce the issue
- Whether the issue started after a restore or new install
- Screenshots or screen recordings if the problem is visual
How do I update my owner name?
Open Settings and change the owner name field. This is used for personalization and for
certain completion and reward messages.
Can I use DailyCue offline?
Yes. DailyCue is built for offline use. Core planning, reminders, themes, routines, and backups are all
local device features.
